All Home Inspectors are the Same! Really?

When I get a phone call about an inspection and the only question asked is, "What is your fee?", I get the impression they think all home inspectors are the same. Are all doctors the same, with the same knowledge base, experience, and bed-side manner? Are plumbers the same? After all, they take the same exam to get their license. I like for my clients to know before we get to the house what my fee is going to be, but that may not be the best question they should ask. Probably the better questions would be: how much experience do you have, any continuing education, what professional organizations do you belong and for how many years, and what am I getting for my money? Let me answer my own questions;

What do you get for your money?

A home inspector who tries very hard to give his clients the best home inspection he can.
A home inspector who gives a money-back guarantee.
A home inspector who gives free consulting for as long as you own your home.
A home inspector who gives you a free subscription to RecallChek that keeps you informed of any recalls on your home appliances.
A home inspector who cares about his clients.

Doesn't that tell you more than, "What is your fee"?
